So What's the Difference?

What's the difference between a Police Sniper Rifle by MilCun and any other scoped rifle? Why not buy your Police Sniper Rifle at the local hardware store? Well, if you're lucky, you might be able to get a rifle at your local store that will do. But whose life are you betting on being lucky?

MilCun Marksmanship Complex builds quality Police Sniper Rifles that are accurized, regulated and tested. They are designed and built by Keith A. Cunningham, an experienced sniper, a qualified gunsmith and a world-class competitive marksman. Keith was a sniper with the 75th Rangers in Viet Nam and today, he puts a little bit of the old sniper's soul into every rifle. Nothing leaves our shop without his approval. In fact, Keith will not let a sniper rifle out of the shop unless he would be willing to take it on an operation.

MilCun Police Sniper Rifle Testing

Our Police Sniper Rifles are tested, zeroed and ready for operations.*

Rifles are tested for consistent sub-1 MOA groups and consistent on target cold clean barrel shots. Rifles are test fired at 100 yards/meters from a conventional operational position, using factory match ammo and 5 shot groups. The scopes are tested for reliability, repeatability and accuracy. The scopes are zeroed with the scales slipped to zero and ready for operation. Once tested, we guarantee the quality and accuracy of each rifle and provide an annual service check for the life of the rifle.

*Our "Best with sighting system" model or similar custom model

No matter the weather,

if a rifle needs testing, Keith tests the rifle.

Why Do We Use 5 Shot Groups?

There is a controversy in the accurate rifle world as to the number of shots that should be fired in a group before it is measured. It is generally accepted that the more shots fired into a single group, the larger that group will be. Therefore, many rifle makers are using a 3 shot group as their accuracy standard.

Even the Chandlers, highly respected rifle builders and authors, use the 3 shot group. In their book, The Best of The One Shot Brotherhood, they defend their use of the 3 shot group, and they acknowledge its shortcomings. "So, when we flourish our three shot groups with pride in accomplishment, those targets should not be compared to groups with more holes in them. A three shot group that is a record strainer is going to appear with some regularity, but try shooting two more into that target and the picture usually changes woefully."

Five shots is a recognized group size that is both practical and proves performance capability. By the time we have tested our accuracy guaranteed rifles, we have usually shot about ten 5 shot groups, and ALL of them are sub 1".

And that is why we use a 5 shot group... we want our rifles to perform for every shot, every shot that the Police Sniper may need to fire.

And just to be sure that every rifle will meet the police sniper's operational needs, we fire our tests from a conventional shooting position (NOT from a machine rest), using factory match ammo (NOT hand loads).
